Sunday May 3rd, 2009
Homer and I share besides a kingsize bed this stay, now also his toy has to come with him, isn't that cute!

We had a goodnights rest and we we're to meet 5:30 to go out for a special breakfast somewhere in the area. After being a bit late, we went out for a lovely breakfast with Chris, Ted and 2 friends of them, Jill and Sharon.
In the afternoon we went for a walk in one of the parks nearby with our 3 dogs, Helen & Jose from Chris and Ted, and ofcourse Homer. The dogs and us enjoyed ourselves and we all had our exercise.
Tomorrow I'll run Homer in his 1st hunttest and the days after he'll be shown by Chris. Also met a lot of new people again, like Judy and Virginia and another very nice lady from who I forgot her name unfortenately. Especially her being so nice to also give me an addition of showsight, which had weimaraner articles in it, where weimaraner breeders and a judge, we're interviewed about our breed.
Today Chris worked Homer and I learned again so incredibly much, I hope to maybe one day get half as good a handler as she is. But I have a very long road to go yet. Never ever in my life expected to handle a dog in the field or show, but I can't ever think of myself doing otherwise the rest of my life anymore. Chris will be handling Helen in the hunttest, we hope we'll be together in a brace, in the hunttest here you allways have to run in braces.
Fingers crossed and I hope to learn a lot, have fun and hope to see a lot of great performance work of the weims.
Saturday May 2nd, 2009.
Finally the moment arrived, Homer and I were getting back to the US.to the nationals...........only the BIG difference this time, we're going as participants ourselves. You can't believe how nervous I was, am and probaly will be all the time. Even though we prepared this trip for a long time already, the last week I was is afraid that I would forget to prepare correctly about the correct papers, injections and health declaration of Homer etc. After just a few ours sleep and almost a divorce Robert drove Homer and myself to the airport. We had a flight from Amsterdam to Chicago, where we change airplanes and Homer could stretch his legs as well. After a while we boarded again for the 2nd part of the trip, to Seattle. Luckely we had no delays and for the 3rd part and last aprt of the trip, we we're so well taking care of again as allways. Chris and Ted came to welcome us and pick us up to drive us to our hotel and nationals area, Olympia WA.
Homer and myself were incredibly happy to see both of them again, besides picking up us, they didn't just had Homer's food ready, also he got a nice, big toy and ofcourse some dogcookies for the night! Just so wonderfully sweet and caring, these things touches ones soul, especially mine.

Thx all & going back home Thanks all for your support here at my blog, calls I received and private emails. Besides the support, friendship from Chris and Ted. I also made a lot of new friends, with who I also had great discussions, information and care for our breeds past and future. But also on many other topics. And also a lot of laughs and fun, especially my neighbour Jill, who made sure I knew where to go and when, and also has a great sense of humor. Thank you all!
I also finally now that Americans don't eat huge amounts of unions at breakfast, but that these are hasbrowns, which are great and I'm going to miss a lot, chrispy hasbrown and english muffin (kind of small/round baquette) for breakfast.
I have everything packed, Homer knows were leaving soon now, back to our other beloved ones, 4 and 2 legged:-), it's been a great wonderfull week, but now looking very much forward going home! |

WCA NATIONAL Specialty!!!! Today it was our turn at the nationals, even more dogs were entered today. It was so exciting and nerve braking. The males and females were divided each in 2 groups.
Homer being the first one (#5) in the first dog group, he got picked, like Bounder, than in the new order everybody had to run and she made some changes in order a left it further like that. So that was really exciting and almost giving me a nervousbreakdown.
Than the 2nd group males came in and there again the same story, so than she put back the 2 groups of males together back in and pick the ones who would make the final pick from the males.........this was not good for my heart I can tell you. Nevertheless, the judge came with her verdict.........The first dog to be picked.........Homer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes he made the final cut again. I couldn't have been more proud of him. He was doing very well today for Ted, before this week he got a little naughty:-), but still did very well for both Ted and Chris.
Bounder, ofcourse I would say, made it to the final cut. With the bitches the same thing, so nervousmaking, ofourse Marge made the final cut easily, she's just deadgorgeous, also Helen made the cut today, she did gorgeous great again, although she wasn't as flashy as on her maturity yesterday. Which is totally understandable after a few days. Anyway the final judgement was coming, Marge won the nationals again, just breathtaking! The BOS was Bounder!!!!! Which was incredibly strong and I've been allways a big Bounder fan, and seeing him in real live he just confirms this even more, such an incredibly beautiful dog and so great handled by Darryl. Than the Awards of Merit were given, my heart was going crazy would we have one or not, he did great, but did the judge think he was good enough to be awarded one.....YES SHE DID!!!!
Homer (aka Ch. Nani's Clay Pigeon) earned an Award of Merit at the WCA National Specialty!!!

What a great way to close this week. Also Helen was awarded an Award of Merit and she did so great! I hardly can believe all of this, Homer did so great and all this wouldn't have been possible without the knowledge, help, handling and friendship of Chris and Ted. You're the BEST! Thank you for everything, again as allways, I'm proud to have been intrusted with such a great dog as Homer. |

rosi1aha@aol.com FUTURITY!
Leonor, Homer did us proud yet again. I am very happy he won his Senior Futurity class and now he has a matching pink ribbon and pretty medal to match his mum's Sophie's. Wonderful that he showed well for Chris and that you got to see him compete. Thank you so very much for giving him so many opportunities to shine!!! Thank you for loving him.
Big hug to both of you,

Futurity and movie Great result and very nice movie. What a pity that you had so much rain over the past days. Good luck on the Nationals BOB, I'll keep my fingers crossed! |

Futurity and a great walk Today was the most important day for us, all the other ones were bonus, but we came here for Homer's Futurity. So he needed at least to win his class ans everything else would be a bonus. Well he didn't let us down and he won his Senior Futurity Class. He did just great with Chris, she handles him perfectly and he just works great for her. Helen won her class with Chris and the maturity and what she has done was just breathtaking impressive! She is such an incredible showdog, I was even to impressed watching her to take enough pics of her, but I've got a few luckely!
Because our dogs were getting quite naughty, we didn't look at the nationals this afternoon, but instead we went for a walk with our dogs, where they could run freely. They all enjoyed that, so what makes them happy, makes us happy! And they did deserve it, working so ahrd for us this week, tomorrow the nationals BOB, so fingers crossed, hope we all make it to the cut again. |

Video WWWC on 20090505 BOB males Hereby the video, Homer is #5, first he's walking with Chris at the final cut with Ted and Chris than has Jose who is # 49. Darryl has #9 who is Bounder, which is Homer's uncle. Enjoy!

Rain, rain and more rain I was warned that it could rain over here, unfortenately that's all it does all day, but today it was so bad, everyone had to show the dogs in their rain suits, so hardly any pics made. Which is kind of sad.
Homer was entered in the Sweepstakes and WWWC, in Sweepstakes he won his class and in WWWC he made the cut again.
I finally understand how everything works over here regarding the shows, classes etc. When you know it's not hard, but finding out exactly you have to licten and watch very carefull, luckely everyone is helping me out here. And being so patient with me, that's really great. |

rosi1aha@aol.com Leonor,
Such good news about Homer making it to the last cut at the show. Certainly something to be proud of. What a great dog - hunt one day, show the next. A Versatile Weim for sure.
Can't wait to see photos.
Enjoy Nationals and best of luck today.
